This isn't the car we booked on the internet last night, but it's
the one we drove away in. It's a Dodge Dakota with a 4.7 litre V8. If
we get 20mpg out of it we'll be doing well.
It's a 400 mile drive from Denver to where we're going, so we had
to stop a couple of times along the way. After seeing this sign on a
bin at a rest area we stopped less often.
Long way to go today, it's a good job the roads are long and straight, activate the cruise control, stick your feet up on the dash and watch the world go by. And if your not driving you can go to sleep.
And this is our destination. Recognise it anyone? That's right it's that thing from Close Encounters. This place is Devils Tower, although a number of native indians refer to it as 'the bears house'.
There are dear at the base of the tower, just up from the visitors center. Along with tons of rubble that has carved itself from the tower over thousands of years.
Still a long way to go today to get back to the interstate to find a decent place to stay. Nice evening for a drive though...
